The Third Annual All Florida Victorian Picnic
Yesterday, Blaze and I traveled through fog that was so thick at times that we couldn't see a car's length ahead, to attend the third annual All Florida Victorian Picnic in Winter Garden. The weather was perfect once we got to the park, though.
Demonstrating an important skill for any proper Victorian lady; how to gracefully faint in a public place. Notice that she has fallen in such a way as to land on a comfortable quilt, with her skirts modestly draped over her feet. We believe that this fit of the vapors was brought on by excessive exposure to the Florida sun, and not by any shocking behavior of her fellow picnic goers.

Christmas Crafting Steampunk Style
The Tallahassee Steampunk group had their first Christmas Craft Night, yesterday, at What ? Cafe. Members were asked to bring whatever craft projects they were working on, plus there were blank gift bags for everyone to decorate.
There were also treats. These were the cupcakes I took:
and Niki, the founder of Tallahassee Steam Works and Oddities on Facebook, brought some incredible hazelnut cookies.
Here are some of the gift bags that people created.
There was also some silliness.
So, even though it was a fairly small turnout, I declare this event a success.

DragonCon Tea Dueling, 2013
I think this video was just posted a few hours ago. It's a very high quality movie of the tea dueling at DragonCon (in Atlanta, over Labor Day weekend), complete with me dropping the tea soaked biscuit down my front.

New Steampunk Christmas Ornaments
My steampunk Christmas panel at the GLI-Expo is this Saturday, so I've been making some new ornaments to take with.
Things shaped like mustaches are so popular right now, that Blaze and I have been playing a game when we go shopping, seeing which of us can point out the most mustaches. So, this year's addition to the beeswax ornaments collection, is a group of mustaches.
They were made using a mustache-shaped candy mold.
The color was achieved by adding bits of beeswax crayons to the melting wax.
A small tart tin that I found at an antique store, also became an ornament.
Inspired by a couple different Etsy shops, I tried my hand at making a clock-hand snowflake, as well.
I am working on a table runner to match the crazy quilt tree skirt and Christmas stocking that I made in previous years, but there is a lot more work to go, so the finished product will not be ready by this weekend. Here is a sneak peek at one of the details, though.
Wish me luck on Saturday. I will be doing the "Steampunk on a Budget" panel with two very talented ladies, but for "A Very Steampunk Christmas" I'll be on my own.
