The Tallahassee Homeschool Group had their Halloween Party at Optimist Park today.
It had been thundering and raining around noon, as we were getting dressed to go, but it stopped a few minutes after 1:00 p.m. and the sun came out. By the time the festivities began, all the rain had dried up and it was a beautiful day, so we had a good turnout.
I enjoyed seeing all the costumes on both children and parents.
Many of the parents created game or craft booths.
This craft was Blaze's favorite. Using just a paper cup, which could be decorated with Halloween stickers, and a balloon, the children were able to make marshmallow or popcorn launchers.
Blaze and his friend started a popcorn war across the table, as soon as their launchers were assembled.
There was also a large selection of Halloween theme snacks.

Preparing for Halloween
The Halloween decorations have been up around the house for a couple weeks, but last Sunday we carved the pumpkin and today we made Halloween treats.
DH usually helps with the pumpkin carving, but this year he is in Louisiana on an archeological dig. Blaze help scoop out the insides of the pumpkin and chose the design. I did the cutting.
Then we had a Halloween theme tea party, with ghost meringues and pumpkin squares.
Today, I made marshmallow-Rice Krispie treat monsters to take with us to the park tomorrow for the homeschool group's Halloween party. I didn't have enough of the candy eyes to make very many of these, so right now, I'm making a few chocolate mustache pops to take with, as well.
DH will be returning on Halloween.

Rocky Comfort Farm
Our tour began with an educational presentation about the life cycle, varieties, and uses of pumpkins and about bees.
There was then a hayride and walk through a millet maze.
The homeschoolers were split into two groups, to fit onto the hayride, so this is just the group we were with:
The farm also had a nice play area.
Blaze has been enjoying photography lately and took this picture of me:

The Victorian Glamping Weekend
Here are scenes from our Victorian Glamping weekend with the Cowford Steampunk Society. We had a great time and enjoyed the company!
There are already plans to do this again next year.

Preparing to Glamp
Only one more day before the Victorian Glamping (glamorous camping) trip with the Cowford Steampunk Society. Our last camping trip was April of last year, so I had to locate and clean all the camping supplies.
Blaze and I somehow managed to rip a large hole in the tent during that last camping trip, so I purchased a new tent this past spring. This will be the maiden voyage for the new tent. We've never even taken it out of it's bag before.
In theory, it will look like this:
This will be the first time since 2009 that DH has been with us on a camping trip.
