For our bedtime story we've been reading The Little House Treasury, which has the first 3 books in Laura Ingals Wilder's Little House Series all printed in one volume.
Wednesday we finished Little House on the Prairie
and last night we read the first two chapters of On the Banks of Plum Creek.

These are the first chapter books that Blaze has ever really had the patience to listen to. He really gets into the stories. He was in tears last night about the family trading away there ponies and mule for their new home in Minnesota. He's also started taking his toy bow and arrow set outside, telling me that he's going out to hunt for some food for us (that's what he had gone out to do when he ended up with all the ant bites).
I do edit the stories slightly as I'm reading when I think the wording sounds a little too racist, but I haven't had to do that much, because it's also given us a chance to talk about the views that different people have of each other. It helps that Ma and Pa Ingals have such differing views about the Indians.

Blaze painted his pottery last night, so this morning I went out to the garden and picked some flowers to put in it and it is now displayed in the middle of our coffee table.

Gardening in Florida is a funny thing. I can go out to the garden on an overcast mid-November morning and pick flowers and fret about how my Butter Crunch lettuce is starting to bolt.
