We are leaving tomorrow for a car trip to North Carolina and I just stumbled across this video that has tips for educating while entertaining children in the car.
This creative mom has a blog, that you might also want to check out:

There is also a nice selection of printable car ride games at MomsMinivan.com:

One of the things we're taking to entertain Blaze on the car ride, is an MP3 player that I have loaded with songs I know he likes.

The video is wonderful! She was very inspiring...I think I should put together a travel bag just to keep in the car. We do lots of driving, too, and Kayla gets bored pretty quickly.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just LOVE Blazes play list. At the age Blaze & Kayla are, I've noticed they love songs that have a story and also songs with unusual noises and such. A few more that Kayla loves right now (in addition to the ones she knows on Blaze's list) are:
Me & You & a Dog Named Boo - Lobo
Big Bad John - Jimmy Dean
Thank God I'm a Country Boy - John Denver
YMCA - Village People
Devil Went Down to Georgia - Charlie Daniels Band
Jump - Van Halen
Convoy - CW McCall
Sing - Carpenters
Hello Again - the Cars
Sold - John Michael Montgomery
It's an odd bunch of songs together, isn't it? lol!
You have fun camping!! I look forward to seeing your posts when you come home. :)
I had thought about Devil Went Down to Georgia, but (here's where my age will show) the last time I owned a copy of that song it was a 33 RPM record that I played over and over. That's a great selection of songs!

ReplyDeleteA gift for those of you who like the devil went down to Georgia. Yes, Johnny Cash and some others did a sequel.
Nice! School in the car! I need to start doing that. The kids are best when strapped down.
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to see, Ula. I had no idea they'd done a "sequel." :)
