One of my projects for the past few days, has been refinishing a table that I found next to a dumpster last week. One of the perks of living in a university town is all of the useful things that people can't take with them when they graduate. For instance, our old microwave oven died back in December and we went about 6 months without a microwave, until our next-door neighbor graduated and had to take his family home to Pakistan, leaving behind a very nice little microwave.
Before:
Dark green legs, very warn table top with paint stains from children's art projects.
I removed the tabletop from the rest of the table, spray painted the legs and support pieces "flat black", and removed the old varnish from the table top.
Blaze wanted to help with the sanding:
Then the tabletop was stained Red Mahogany and coated with polyurethane spray.
It's so hot and humid outside that after drying for two days, it was still sticky to the touch, so I finally brought it inside to finish drying.
The table's new home in the corner of Blaze's room (The table and the new pennant banners are the beginning of the redecorating I'm doing in his room).
Cool!
