My Sunscreen Malfunction

This is my bad joke for this week.

Just like the celebrities who have wardrobe malfunction, it came off and I turned bright red (rim shot please).

I really did get terribly burned while canoeing. Everybody seems to have a different bit of advise for sunburn. A woman at the park yelled at me to cover myself with vinegar. My husband swears by Aloe. What do you do to treat your sunburns?

  1. OH. MY. HECK. Yes, you did get burned.

Ok, I got really burned earlier this summer. Someone told me vitamin e tablets, which I punctured and put on my burn. It worked WONDERS, but it was so time consuming puncturing enough of them to do me good. This summer I found a BOTTLE of vitamin e oil in California to rub on Emily when she was badly sunburned. It worked wonders then, too.

  2. Coconut oil! It's the only thing I put on my skin besides Dr. Bronner's soap. You poor thing, you look owey! (by the way I love your posts!)

    Check out http://www.volcanicearth.com/coconutoil.html
    As they state:
Virgin Coconut Oil can help keep the skin from developing liver spots, and other blemishes caused by aging and over exposure to sunlight. The oil is absorbed into the skin and into the cell structure of the connective tissues, limiting the damage excessive sun exposure can cause. While it is not a natural sunblock, Coconut Oil IS the perfect, natural treatment for relieving sunburn and is itself, a natural exfoliant.

  3. Here I am again, Love your blog! I've tagged you for an award. Check out my blog to see it and please don't feel like you need to pass it along as it's kind of "chain letterish" but you may find it to be fun to do and share.

  4. Cold cream... like Noxema. It works in less than a day. That looks crazy painful and being another fair skinned blonde I feel your pain. I have avoided the red so far this year. *Crossing Fingers*

  5. Ouch. I always tan, so I don't have any advice.

  6. Ohhhhhh, being a fair skinned red head I feel your pain too! I have had plenty of lobster moments in my lifetime. I have tried vinegar and aloe; but now lavender essential oil is my favorite for burns of any kind. You would need a lot of lavender EO though for that burn, hopefully by now, it's better.
