A Week's Worth of Food

I was fascinated by this series of pictures, "What the world eats--a week's worth of groceries".

So, I made my own pictures of a week's worth of groceries. The chicken that DH was cooking for dinner should be in both pictures, but it was already in the oven when I took the first picture. I waited until it was done and snapped another photo.





I noticed a lot of fast food in the American family's picture in the photo series, but we rarely buy fast food.

The only thing that may be inaccurate about our picture, is that I may have to buy another gallon of milk before the end of the week.

Homeschool Field Day

Yesterday, the Tallahassee Homeschool Group had their annual Field Day (the first we have attended).



It was also group picture day.

Children were divided up into age groups for each event and there were ribbons for the winners.

Blaze was reluctant to try any of the races.

He's still self-conscious about the CP causing him to not be as fast as the other children, although I explained to him that no one is graceful in a wheelbarrow race or a three legged race. It's not the winners I will remember from these races. It's the children who were falling all over each other, but laughing and trying again.





He did join in the tug-o-war, though, and was very excited when his team won.









The Lofty Pursuits ice cream bus was also at the park.

Spring Breakfast Bento

It's such a beautiful day, I decided it called for something special.

This is the Spring breakfast bento I made for Blaze. My husband has joked about how people make fake meat out of vegetables, so why can't someone make fake vegetables out of meat. I think I just came pretty close with that egg and bacon flower.

Earth Day Fun at Railroad Square Art Park

Today was Peace in the Park at Railroad Square Art Park in Tallahassee.







This was the thing Blaze was most excited about:



We spoke to the man who built the Tardis and he plans to build all of the Tardises from Dr. Who, eventually.

There was lots to see and several kinds of music to listen to.

Mag Lab

Today, we went on a field trip with the Tallahassee Homeschool Group to visit the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory.







They said we were the largest group that had ever shown up for a public tour, so they split us up into two smaller groups. Blaze and I ended up in the smaller group, with a very friendly and knowledgable Florida State University grad student as our tour guide.





We learned that magnetic energy is measured in Teslas and that those big magnets that lift cars in junk yards are between one and two Teslas.

There are only 3 big magnetic labs in the country, two of which are in Florida, but what makes this one exciting is that is houses the most powerful magnet in the world.
