Christmas Scrapbook Pages

I have fallen pretty far behind on my scrapbooking, but I have been working on pages to display this past Christmas' photos in my steampunk Christmas scrapbook. I'm not quite done, but I'm pretty close.
Here is what I have so far:



Since I just learned how to do the mottled metallic effect, using alcohol inks, right before Christmas, I decided that that was a good background for this year's pictures.













Now, I just need to catch up with the rest of last year.

The Second Steampunk Scrapbook

I recently filled my first steampunk scrapbook up with so many pages that it wouldn't hold any more. So, I began collecting new paper and accessories to start a new scrapbook.



Last night, I finished the new book cover.



This is the inside of the cover, using paper from Graphic 45.

The Steampunk Scrapbook is Full

Both Blaze and I were sick last weekend, and then took a couple days to recover, which gave me plenty of time sitting around in bed, completely surrounded by scrapbook supplies, to finish up all the scrapbook pages I wanted to make. The steampunk scrapbook is now completely up-to-date and I don't think it will hold any more pages.

Updating the Steampunk Scrapbook

I have replaced the chains that originally held my steampunk scrapbook together with these metal rings I found in the embroidery section of Michael's. Turning the book into a 6-ring binder, means that I can fit more pages into it, so I have started making new pages.



From the very beginning, one of the things I have tried to do with this scrapbook, is to fit as many images as I can into the book, without using too many pages. Not every page does this, but coming up with creative ways to include more photographs has been a fun challenge.

Catching Up on the Scrapbook

I got out Blaze's scrapbook, last week, and discovered that I had fallen WAY behind. The last pages I had made were done just before Halloween 2011, so I've been trying to get caught up on a year and a half's worth of pictures.

I'm not completely done, but I need to go buy more paper before I can finish. Here's what I have so far:

New Pages for the Steampunk Scrapbook

I spent all last week working on new pages for the Steampunk scrapbook, using pictures from The Florida Steampunk Exhibition East. The first few pages are pretty straight forward scrapbook pages, but then I tried a couple new techniques for adding extra pictures to a page. For the first one, I used the little pictures that came on a collage sheet. I created a gear with a photo sized window in it. It is fastened to the scrapbook page with a large brad, on which a decorative gear has been glued. This allows the gear to turn, revealing different tiny photographs. For the next page, I printed pictures on both sides of two sheets of ink jet printable Shrinky Dinks. It took some experimenting to get the color just right on the Shrinky Dinks, though, because the image must be lightened considerably before printing. This is because the image will darken as it shrinks. A regular one-hole hole punch, used before baking, worked well for a jump ring to go through, but If you are going to hang the picture directly on a chain or ribbon, you'll want to make a bigger hole. I still haven't finished doing the pictures from last year's Dragon*Con, so while I was at it I did this page: I really like the steampunk musical sticker sheet from Jolee, which can be found here.

 I also added a photograph to the inside of the back cover of the book, a photoshopped image of my hometown, that I had used as part of the story Ula and I have been writing for Blaze. These are a few pages that I finished quite sometime ago, but never posted:
