Just a Little Break

Sorry I haven't been posting much this week. Things have been a little crazy with "end of the year" stuff happening at school, DH starting archeology field school next week, homeschooling Blaze, and just day-to-day life. I'm exhausted! I'm just going to take a little blogging break, but I will be back.

I know you are on break, but maybe you can help me with this when you get back. What did you start Blaze with in science? For the life of me I can't remember any science class before the 8th grade, and I think I only remember that science class because it involved dissecting a frog. I was thinking that I should begin with plants and then move on to animals, but I didn't know if there was something better to start with.

How's this for a prompt answer.
We started with planets, but that was only because Blaze had shown an interest in them and loved the Magic School Bus movies about space. Then we did the human body (same reason). We also learned a little about rocks and landforms that year, although I kept it pretty simple. For that first year, I let his interests lead the way.

The important thing to remember about keeping science records is that anything that explains how the world works is science. Learning if things float or sink is a science lab. Mixing baking soda and vinegar is chemistry. Even laying outside watching clouds can be a science class, if you talk about the different types of clouds and why the sky is blue.

This is a lot of help thanks. I was thinking of starting with plants because Jasmine really likes the Disney movie Wall-E. We'll see how it goes this summer. Thanks again.
