This week's unplugged challenge (square) was perfect, because Blaze had been having trouble differentiating between squares and rectangles.
Friday, he wanted to play outside with his binoculars, so I told him we would go for a walk around our apartment complex and he could use his binoculars to locate squares. For the first half of our walk, he spied things with the binoculars and I took pictures of the squares he found, then for the second half, he took the pictures and I got to carry the binoculars.
I think we made pretty good detectives. Here's what we found:
a circle full of squares

The pictures are beautiful! Our neighborhood is covered in lots of snow, so our squares are not so accessible right now! :)
I love this idea! Your pictures are wonderful. It reminds me a bit of the book "Alphabet City" by Stephen Johnson. There are squares everywhere aren't there?
Beautiful photos, and I'm definitely going to be using your idea of taking binoculars along - that would make the activity much easier to share. Thanks!
