A visit to The Butterfly Rainforest

As part of our study of the Rain Forest last Spring, Blaze and I took a short field trip to The Florida Museum of Natural History to see the Butterfly Rain Forest. We walked through the entire exhibit twice. Then we sat for a while on a bench and waited for the butterflies to approach us, only to discover we had been surrounded by them all along, they were just well camouflaged. Right outside the butterfly exhibit, there is a lab where they have hanging cocoons with butterflies just emerging. They had just received a shipment of new cocoons and were laying them out when we were there.

I love visiting the butterfly rainforest at the science center in Seattle. My favorite part is how wonderful it smells!

Wow, that must have been spectacular! I can't even imagine. We recently watched a video on the monarch migration and we were just shocked by how beautiful it was...even on video!
