I was saving these pictures to use around Halloween.
I really like looking at the stones in old cemeteries. It's not because of anything morbid. I just think they are more artistic and tell more about the people, than most stones do today.
These pictures were taken at two adjoining church cemeteries in Charleston, South Carolina. The concierge at our hotel gave us a map labeled 'Spooky Cemeteries" and told us where to look for the more interesting stones. He told us it would be a good place to visit just before dusk, which is exactly what we did.
The cemeteries were not really spooky, but were really beautiful in a way that only overgrown, flower filled gardens, can be. There were flowers everywhere, trees draped with Spanish Moss, and each grave marker was a unique work of art.
